Non-urgent advice: Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is:

  • using the GP online system: Patient Services
  • (You need to have signed up to this specifically for this Practice)

This accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • Submit to you preferred pharmacy to request on your behalf.
  • Put the “Repeat Prescription Ordering form” in our prescription box on the 3rd floor landing outside reception.
  • Send it to us (with a stamped addressed envelope so the prescription can be sent back to you

Non-urgent advice: Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 2 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

If you have recently joined us from another Practice you will need to complete a new form to access Patient Services. Any login you had for your previous practice will NOT transfer to us. You need to complete a new form.

Medication reviews

Please note that you must consult a doctor at the University Health Service before you can use the repeat prescription facility.

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

If you are prescribed regular medication that is NOT on the repeat prescription system, you will need to book a telephone consultation with a GP prior to this being issued. Please ensure that you allow plenty of time to book the appointment prior to running out of your medication.

About Pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
