Out of hours, that is between 18.00 and 08.00 hours, at weekends, and on public holidays, NHS Lothian is responsible for medical care. To contact this service please Phone NHS 24 on 111            Website: https://www.nhs24.scot

Phone 111 for free if you think you need A&E but it’s not life or limb threatening. The 111 service can also help if you’re in mental health distress. NHS24 is available for advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

Accessibility

There is ramp access via the Wellbeing Centre.

In the event of the lift being out of service, an arrangement can be made for a doctor or nurse to see you on the 1st floor. Please telephone 0131-650-2777 or ask another visitor to the Health Centre to alert the receptionists on the 3rd Floor.

A portable hearing loop system is kept at the 3rd Floor Reception Desk.

The UHS is located on the 3rd - 5th floors of Richard Verney Health Centre which is part of UoE Estates. The UoE still requires any individual using their premises to be able to self-transfer into an evacuation chair. The UoE response team can assist if it is an arm hold or minimal assistance required but they will not lift any individual into an evacuation chair. There is also a maximum weight limit of 180kg for the chair in current use. The Security Team will attend any Fire Evacuation and provide a response based on the above criteria being met. The UHS is therefore NOT able to register any individual who cannot self-transfer into an evacuation chair as defined in the above criteria.
