This service provides a specialist service which supports you to lead a healthy lifestyle, to manage weight and improve your health.
Community Treatment and Care
Some services have moved away from general practice to community teams.
Services delivered by Community Treatment and Care Edinburgh include but are not limited to:
- Wound Care - Basic and complex
- Suture and Clip removal
- Unscheduled Vaccinations
- Doppler ABPI
- Ear Irrigation and pre audiology appointment check
- Routine catheter changes for Non-Housebound patients as well as Trial Without Catheter (TWOC)

Pharmacy First
Pharmacy First Scotland is a nationwide service is available at community pharmacies which dispense NHS prescriptions for some minor ailments such as:
- Thrush
- Shingles
- UTI (in women)
- Diarrhoea/constipation/indigestion
- Cold sores/Impetigo
- Acne/Insect bites
- Threadworms/headlice
- Warts or verrucas
- Allergies/cough/sore throat
- and more

Non-urgent advice: Pregnancy Care (Midwives) and Health Visitors
When you discover you are pregnant, simply phone the pregnancy booking line at 0131 536 2009 to schedule your first midwife appointment and scan. Lines are open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.45pm
